Jakarta: The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia reached 1.56 million visits in August 2019, increasing by 4.83 percent compared to July 2019.
"We recorded an increase of 4.83 percent in August 2019," Central Statistics Agency (BPS) chairman Suhariyanto told a press conference here on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
In August 2019, the number of Malaysian tourist arrivals in Indonesia reached 263,318 visits. It represented 16.93 percent to the total number.
In the meantime, the number of Chinese tourist arrivals in Indonesia stood at 193,407 visits. It represented 12.43 percent of the total number.
Furthermore, the number of Singaporean tourist arrivals in Indonesia was recorded at 174,097 visits. It represented 11.19 percent of the total number.
Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia stood at 10.87 million visits in the January-August 2019 period. It rose by 2.67 percent compared to the same period last year.
