medcom.id, Cirebon: Traveling to Cirebon, West Java, is incomplete without tasting nasi jamblang (jamblang rice).
Nasi jamblang gets its name from a village in western Cirebon where the food is originated. The trademark of the food is the teakwood leaf container.
One of the famous nasi jamblang seller is Meri. The old woman has sold it since 1998.
"My Nasi Jamblang is more familiar with its nickname, Nasi Jamblang Kolektoran," stated Meri to Metrotvnews.com, in Cirebon, West Java, Saturday (2/13/2016).
According to Meri, the nickname was taken from the location of her stall, Kolektor street.
Meri explained nasi jamblang has a lot of side dishes like fried tempeh, quail eggs, fried chicken/beef lungs, fried eggs, perkedel and many others. "In total there are 27 kinds of side dishes," she said.
Meri opens her stall at 5 PM. Usually, it is sold out in three hours.
One buyer Ferdhy said nasi jamblang has unique taste. "The sambal (chili paste) is good, not too spicy, but it tastes very good," admitted Ferdy who comes from Yogyakarta.
