medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya urged public to watch total solar eclipse on March 9 as the natural phenomena only occurs once every 350 year in Indonesia.
"Please tell your families and friends," said Arief in Jakarta, Thursday (2/25/2016).
The ministry coordinates 12 provinces passed by the total solar eclipse to hold series of events that could attract tourists.
Palu city in Central Sulawesi for example will hold music concert. At least 3,500 scientists will visit the city to observe the total solar eclipse.
Total solar eclipse is predicted to occur on Wednesday (3/9/2016). The Indonesian provinces that will be passed by it are Bengkulu, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, as well as Maluku.
The major cities in those provinces are Palembang, Tanjung Pandan, Palangkaraya, Balikpapan, Palu, Ternate and Sofifi.
