Longest Dancing Dragon in Asia Showed in Yogyakarta

medcom.id, Yogyakarta: The Yogyakarta Chinese Cultural Week (PBTY) will be held again at Ketandan Chinatown on February 18-22. The festival is held to celebrate Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival. 
 
"The event is the acculturation of the Yogya and Chinese cultures. We will combine elements of Javanese culture with Chinese culture," said PBTY 2016 committee chief Tri Kirana Muslidatun in Yogyakarta, Monday (2/15/2016).
 
The festival including Indonesian dance performances, Chinese dance performances as well as Chinese shadow puppet show. Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X is scheduled to open the festival.
 
Acclaimed Yogyakarta dancer Didik Ninik Towo will perform Indonesian dances in the festival including the monkey dance. "It is to welcome His Majesty (Sri Sultan)," Didik said.
 
The main event is carnival that will be held along the Malioboro road. A dancing with 1,595 meters length will be carried during the carnival.
 
"The dragon has been confirmed by the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) as the longest dragon in Asia. It will be lifted by 250 military people," explained Tri Kirana.
 
During the event, Ketandan Street will also be decorated with Chinese design.
