Tempeh, The Food to Fight Against Malnutrition in Malang

medcom.id, Malang: As many as 100 children have experienced malnutrition in Malang City, East Java, in 2015. The number decreased from 125 in 2014.
 
The worst cases of malnutrition occurred in Pandangwangi sub-district, where 20 children were accounted for. Similar cases with lesser numbers occurred in other sub-districts, such as Blimbing and Lowokwaru.
 
Head of Malang Health Services, Asih Tri Rachmi said the administration had budgeted Rp600 million to manage the issue in 2016. Aside from that, the city also provides a budget to provide nutritious food for infants.
 
Usually, said Asih, the additional food are biscuits and milk, where they are distributed in children healthcare posts (Posyandu).
 
"But starting this April, we socialize the PMT based on tempeh and 'daun kelor' as nutritious alternatives," said Asih at her office in Malang, Friday (4/1/2016).
 
Asih mentioned that 67,515 infants in Malang requires supervision to grow well.
