medcom.id, Surakarta: Laweyan Mosque is an old mosque in Laweyan, Solo, Central Java. It was built during Pajang Sultanate era in the 16th century.

The mosque is also known as Ki Ageng Henis Mosque as it was constructed by a cleric named Ki Ageng Henis. He was spiritual teacher of Sultan Hadiwijaya.

Ki Ageng Henis also had important role in the development of batik industry in the village. He was the person who taught the residents how to make batik.

"Now the place is called Laweyan Batik Village," said Laweyan Mosque head Achmad Sulaiman to Metrotvnews.com recently.
