Prior to serving, the beef is boiled first with seasonings, such as pecans, pepper, garlic and ginger.

Then, It is served in a bowl filled with beef slices, scallions, tomatoes and rice noodle. The side dish are rice cakes and crackers.

One of the stalls offering the bakso menu in Pemalang is Kusyati's stall, at the Jebed Intersection.

Even though it is small, Kusyati's stall is always full with customers. A bowl of soto flavored bakso cost only at Rp12,000.

If customers want a complete set of bakso with rice cake, crackers and a drink, the price is Rp20,000.

Kusyati's bakso stall spends at least 15 kilograms of beef in a day.

"It is a heritage recipe since 1965," explained Kusyati when met by Metrotvnews.com, at her stall.

Customers have not come only from local areas. Budiharto, from Tegal, was willing to spend a long drive to taste bakso at Kusyati's.

"I came far away from Tegal, to taste this meatball. It is good to have when it is hot, the meat is tender and has a distinct taste," said the 40-year old man.
