Mount Bromo Reopened for Tourists

Metrotvnews, Malang: Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS)management decided to reopen Mount Bromo following coordination meeting held on Saturday, February 27.
 
TNBTS chief Ayu Dewi Utari, stated that the decision is based on the recommendation from Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG). Previously, Mount Bromo's status has been lowered.
 
Local residents and tourists now could hold activities in the Mountain. "The area of the caldera is partly open starting today (Saturday), she mentioned in Malang, East Java, Saturday (2/27/2016).
 
Authority still prohibits vehicles enter the area until March 11. Ayu explained the place will be fully open on March 12.
 
"We will arrange routes for vehicles, horses and pedestrians. We hope the regulations will be followed," she said.
 
PVMBG lowered Mount Bromo's status on Friday (2/26). The dangerous area was narrowed from 2.5 kilometers from the crater to only one kilometer from the crater.
