medcom.id, Semarang: Australian man, Allan Silva, is having an extraordinary journey. He is solo canoeing from Singapore to his hometown country.
The 54-year old man arrived at Marina Beach, Semarang, Central Java on Monday, April 11. He continued the journey a day after.
In his canoe, there are equipment and logistics such as maps, GPS, compass, camera, foods, raincoat, medicines and private documents. Silva said he occasionally got foods for free from locals.
"In Lampung, I was given fritters. It was delicious. Indonesians are very kind and open," he mentioned to Metrotvnews.com, Semarang, Tuesday (4/12/2016).
"After 40-50 kilometers, I wil take rest. If there is a village nearby, I will drop by for one day to rest and prepare logistics," he continued.
Silva did not communicate much with the locals during his transit. Besides language barrier, he mostly used his time to rest and prepare himself.
Several local residents at Marina Beach amazed with his story. "I can't do such thing. Travelling with only a small boat," said one local named Prasetya.
The Sydney-born man started his journey on February 14. He targeted he would arrive in Australia by the end of 2016.
Several local reporters gave the man Semarang's delicacies and souvenirs before his departure. Some residents also said goodbye and wished him good luck.
