Harjonagoro Market head, Nur Rahmadi, explained the market was built in the 1920s by Pakubuwono X. It was designed by Dutch achitect, Thomas Karsten.
Nur explained visitors could taste various traditional dishes in the market such as lenjongan and brambang asem.
"There are at least 20 food stalls in the market," said Nur, Friday (5/6/2016).
Lenjongan is a sweet dish with tubers as the main ingredients. It is served with coconut flakes and sugar.
Meanwhile, Brambang Asem is made from sweet potato leaves. It is served with sambal sauce. The hot and spicy flavor makes you want to eat more.

If you want to taste Javanese traditional drink, go to the east of the market. You can find popular Dawet jelly ice stall called Bu Dermi's Dawet. you can also find food stalls in the west of the market.
