medcom.id, Jakarta: Many Indonesian travelers prefer cruise tourism as it is considered more practical. In 2015, the number of Indonesian tourists who booked cruise tourism package rose 30 percent.

"In Indonesia, the trend of cruise tourism had emerged since last year," mentioned Welling Imanius, cruise consultant for the Cruise Centre agent at International Cruises Holiday Fair 2016 in Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Sunday (2/21/2016).

The destinations chosen by Indonesian tourists are usually Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. It is because those countries are geographically close with Indonesia.

"Most cities in Asia has similar style," Welling stated.

Sales coordinator for American-based Princess Cruises, Norsidahwati Binte Ja'afar, also had similar observation. "Most tourists travelling to Asia with short duration," mentioned Norsidahwati.

Moreover, most tourists who have tried cruise tourism usually want to feel the experience again. They want to try different packages, countries and ships.

"I have visited Singapore and Malaysia with the cruise ship. Now I am planning to go to Japan," mentioned one of the visitors at the exhibition, Andriyanti.

Regarding the facilities offered, cruise tourism is more simple as the accommodation, transportation and meals are available on affordable price.

If you are interested in short cruise  with destination to Asian cities for four to six days, you only need around Rp6-8 million.

"The highest prices are during the peak holiday season in the beginning and the end of the year," explained Welling.
