medcom.id, Gunungkidul: Fried grasshopper sellers in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta are reaping huge profits in this holiday season. Their sales are increasing multiple times compared to the normal days.
"I can sell 50 to 80 jars per day during Lebaran holiday," said one seller, Kaminah, to Metrotvnews.com recently.
Kaminah mentioned that she only sells 2-3 jars on normal days. One jar of fried grasshopers is sold around Rp30,000.
"I usually catch grasshoppers by myself at the forest. However, if there are lots of demands, I buy grasshoppers from middlemen," explained the 50 year old woman.
most of her customers are local residents who work in big cities. "They miss the taste of fried grasshopper," she concluded.
