medcom.id, Jepara: Karimunjawa Islands is one of the top tourist destination in Central Java province.
 
During holiday season, thousands of tourists come to the islands located in Jepara regency. The underwater beauty of Karimunjawa is stong magnet for visitors. 
 
It is not complete to visit the islands without snorkeling. There are many spots where tourists can enjoy large variety of corals and colorful fish.
 
Not only that, tourists can even capture their underwater moments with photos or videos. Almost all travel agencies in Karimunjawa provide underwater documentation for free. 
 
Manager for one travel agency in the islands, Teguh Kurniawan mentioned several popular snorkeling spots in the islands such as Tengah Island and Menjangan Island.
 
"Snorkeling spots in Gleyang Island and Kecil Island are also good. There are lots of small fish," said the man, when met in Karimunjawa recently.

Even though tourists do snorkeling in shallow sea, safety is still top priority. Those who cannot swim should wear life jackets. Before snorkeling, they have to do muscle stretching.
 
Furthermore, there are several sea animals that should be avoided including stone fish, ray fish, anemones and fire coral.
 
To enjoy Karimunjawa's underwater beauty, tourists may rent a boat for Rp400,000. The maximum capacity is 10 people, including the tour guide and photographer.
 
Sonita Putri, a tourist from Jakarta, said she was amazed with the underwater beauty. "The view was cool. I was afraid at first, but after plunging in, it was fun," said Sonita.
