Silangit Airport, The Gateway to Lake Toba

medcom.id, Medan: Lake Toba in North Sumatra in one of the popular tourist destinations in the country.  Acting Governor of North Sumatra, Tengku Erry Nuradi mentioned many airlines have opened new route to Silangit Airport, the closest airport to the lake. 
 
Sriwijaya Air opened new route from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta to Silangit Airport on April 26. Garuda Indonesia opened similar route last month.
 
"The airlines commit to open access to Lake Toba," the governor stated in a press statement to Metrotvnews.com, Wednesday (24/27/2016).
 
Erry explained Lake Toba is prepared by central government as international tourist destination. Local government gives contribution by developing regions surrounding the lake. "We give all we have to develop Lake Toba," he underlined.
 
Sriwijaya Air uses Boeing 737-500 for the new route. It departs daily from Soekarno-Hatta at 07.30 AM. The flight takes around two hours. 
 
President Joko Widodo established Lake Toba as one of ten tourist destinations to be develop as 'New Bali'. President visited the lake last March to kickstart the program.
 
The other tourist destinations are Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuhan Bajo, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, Kepulauan Seribu, Toba, Wakatobi, Tanjung Lesung, Morotai, and Tanjung Kelayang.
