Fun Pole Climbing Race at Sea

medcom.id, Jepara: Dozens of young males partcipated on pole climbing competition in Demaan village, Jepara regencty, Central Java, on Wednesday (7/13/2016).
 
The pole was made from bamboo tree. Its top was attached with various prizes such as clothes, foods and money.
 
Pole climbing in Demaan village is unique as it is held in the middle of the sea. 

"Since our village does not have field. We hold pole climmbing at sea. Most Demaan residents are fishermen," said village resident named Khonzir during the event.
 
He explained it is intended to strengthen unity between the village residents, especially the youth.
 
"Usually pole climbing is held on land, but this one is at sea. It is definitely," said Eko Purwanto, spectator from nearby village.
