Bogana rice is a pyramid-shaped rice with chicken and tempeh. It is a specialy dish of Cirebonese royal houses. There are four royal houses in Cirebon namely Kasepuhan, Kanoman, Keprabonan and Kacirebonan.
The dish is usually presented by royals during a celebration. The piyramid-shaped rice simbolyzes blessing of God.
You can try bogana rice at Pawon Bogana, a restaurant inside Kacirebonan Palace in Cirebon, West Java.
Kacirebonan Palace spokesperson, Sonia, said the restaurant is famous among tourists. "We have many visitors either locals or people from outside the city," she told Metrotvnews.com recently.
One of the visitors, Sunardi, said he enjoyed the taste of bogana rice. "It is good and the price is not that expensive," he explained.
Pawon Bogana occasionally invites local artists to perform in the restaurant, especially Cirebonese traditional artists.
