medcom.id, Jepara: There are various traditional foods that you can try when visiting Jepara, Central Java. One dish that you definitely should try is pindang serani.
Pindang serani is made from fresh sea fish boiled with spices such as turmeric, tamarind, lemongrass, shallot, chili, galingale and orange leaves. People in Jepara usually use badong fish or white snapper.
"If we use fish that are not fresh, it will smell fishy and taste bad," said Zanuar, the owner of a local restaurant in Jepara.
Zanuar stated that the dish has unique spicy and sour taste. It is best to be served during hot weather. The spices surely will make you sweat.

You can easily find the dish in Jepara. Almost all restaurants, especially the ones located in beach, provide the menu. The price is determined by the size of the fish. It usually ranges from Rp25,000 to Rp75,000.
