Jakarta: Indonesian economy grew 7.07 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2021, according to the country's Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
"Compared to the second quarter of 2020, our economy grew by 7.07 percent year-on-year," BPS chairman Margo Yuwono told a virtual press conference on Thursday.
"The situation is similar with Singapore and several European Union member countries who experienced an economic contraction in the second quarter of 2020. They recorded a significant economic growth in the second quarter of this year," he explained.
Compared to the previous quarter, he said, Indonesian economy grew by 3.31 quarter-to-quarter in the April-June period.
Cumulatively, he added, Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 3.1 percent in the first half of 2021.
"Indonesian economy usually records an improvement in the second quarter," he stated.
