Jakarta: State-Owned Enterprises (SOES) Minister Erick Thohir has Erick Thohir has appointed Claus Wamafma as the new PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) director.
The appointment of the new Board of Directors of PTFI was held at the SOEs Ministry Building in Central Jakarta on February 7, 2020.
"He is a native Papuan who have more than 20 years of working experience. He started his career from the lowest rank. He was proposed to represent Mind ID," SOEs minister's special staff Arya Sinulingga told Antara here on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
Claus previously served as Senior Vice President Social Responsibility and Community Development at PTFI. He was graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
"The government always urges Freeport to recruit more native Papuans. Nevertheless, this appointment was carried out professionally," Arya explained.
According to Arya, PTFI currently employs 7,096 workers. They consist of 2,890 Papuans and 4,206 non-Papuans.
The Board of Commissioners of PTFI comprise Richard C Adkerson as President Commissioner, Orias Petrus Moedak as Vice President Commissioner as well as Adrianto Machribie, A.M. Fachir, Hinsa Siburian and Kathleen Lynne Quirk as Commissioners.
Meanwhile, the Board of Directors of PTFI comprise Clayton Allen Wenas as President Director, Jenpino Ngabdi as Vice President Director as well as Achmad Ardianto, Claus Wamafma, Mark Jerome Johnson and Robert Charles Schroeder as Directors.
