Jakarta: State-owned railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) officially operated Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link on Tuesday morning.
The project is aimed to cut travel time from Jakarta city center to Soekerno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA). It is expected to take 45 minutes from New Sudirman station to SHIA station.
"The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link can be used by the public as part of the paid trial phase," said KAI president director Edi Sukmoro in Central Jakarta on Monday evening.
The fare will cost Rp30,000 from December 26-January 1. It will rise to Rp70,000 from January 2 onwards.
"We will formulate the most competitive price for the public," he added.
