Jakarta: The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Jakarta, together with the UAE International Investors Council, has launched a campaign to promote bilateral economic relations and investment cooperation between the UAE and Indonesia.

This campaign is part of the commemoration of the 45th Anniversary of Bilateral Diplomatic Relations between the UAE and Indonesia.

According to Ambassador of the UAE to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Al Dhaheri, the main objective of this campaign is to showcase the great achievements that have been made during the 45 years of bilateral relations between the UAE and Indonesia.

"The current UAE-Indonesia bilateral relations continue to improve to a higher level than before," said the Ambassador in a press release on Monday.

The UAE is Indonesia's strategic investment partner. It is set to become the largest investor in the Indonesian Investment Authority, the country's sovereign wealth fund (SWF). The UAE recently announced an investment plan of $10 billion in accordance with the direction of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

"The two countries will continue to work together to strengthen and develop strategic relations," UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said.

UAE's investment is planned to be used to finance infrastructure projects, including roads and ports, tourism, agriculture and other strategic sectors.

"This close relationship continues to be tested again and again as we work together to tackle interrelated global crises such as the current Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, food security and sustainable development," said Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
