Jakarta: PT Vale Indonesia produced 17,631 metric tones of nickel in matte in the second quarter of 2019, increasing by 35 percent compared to the previous quarter.
“Production in the second quarter of 2019 was higher than production in the first quarter of 2019,” Nico Kanter, CEO and President Director of PT Vale Indonesia, said in a press statement released on Monday.
“We are optimistic of meeting our 2019 full year production target of approximately
71,000-73,000 metric tons.” he added.
On a year-on-year basis, production in the second quarter of 2019 was about 7% lower
than production in the second quarter of 2018.
In the meantime, production in the first half of 2019 was bout 15% lower than
production in the first hald of 2018.
According to him, the decrease was basically due to a combination of planned maintenance activities related to the Larona Canal Relining, plant shutdowns and unplanned electric furnace issues in 2019.
