AP II, PLN Ink MoU to Install Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Jakarta: State-run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II)and state-owned electricity firm PT PLN inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up electric vehicle charging station to expedite the battery-powered electric vehicles program.
 
According to AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin , the MoU demonstrated his company's commitment to supporting the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
 
"Angkasa Pura II has supported the accelerated development of battery-based electric vehicles, as the government program stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 55 of 2019," he stated in a statement here on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

Under the agreement, all airports under the management of the company will provide infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations.
 
As a pilot project, AP II will operate an electric vehicle charging station at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
 
"As the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, with 200 thousand passengers daily and 50 thousand workers, we hope that Soekarno-Hatta, as a pilot project for the development of electric vehicle development, would become an example for other airports and public service facilities," the AP II boss noted.
 
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as well as Research, Technology, and Higher Education Minister M. Nasir bore witness to the inking of the MoU.
 
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has operated some electric vehicles to serve passengers and support its operation, including taxis, skytrain, segway, electric scooter, baggage towing tractor, and electric bus to ply within the airport area.
 
The MoU with AP II is part of PLN's agreements with various stakeholders to develop the electric vehicle industry in the country. (Antara)
