Abu Dhabi: Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B Pandjaitan traveled to the United Arab Emirates. During his visit, Luhut held a bilateral meeting with the UAE Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
Luhut said the meeting was the initial preparation for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo's state visit to the United Arab Emirates in January 2020. He added that the meeting also talked about government-to-government (G to G) and business collaborations between the two countries.
During the state visit, several memorandums of understanding (MoU) are expected to be signed, including in the fields of energy, health, education, and the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF). In the field of petrochemical and petroleum, one of the prepared agreements are between Pertamina and Adnoc for the development of a refinery in Balongan.
Luhut also invited the Crown Prince Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed to send a team to see the potential of hydro-power in North Kalimantan and Papua.
"We hope that the UAE will become a partner and friend to develop several projects in Indonesia," Luhut said in his official statement issued on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
Moreover, this meeting also prepared an MoU to support infrastructure development in Indonesia. The plan is for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) to become an important partner for Indonesia.
"Indonesia is currently formulating an Omnibus Law to provide legal certainty for this SWF," Luhut said.
