Jakarta: Indonesia maintained a trade surplus in April 2021, totalling USD2.19 billion compared with USD1.57 billion the month earlier, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has announced.
Therefore, Indonesia has maintained a trade surplus since May 2020.
"Indonesia's trade balance has recorded a surplus for 12 months in a row," said BPS chairman Suhariyanto in a virtual press conference here on Thursday.
The overall trade balance for the January-April 2021 period recorded a larger USD7.72 billion surplus compared with conditions in the same period one year earlier.
The trade surplus recorded in April 2021 was influenced by a non-oil and gas trade surplus as non-oil and gas exports surged in the reporting period.
Stronger export performance was dominated by natural resources as well as several manufacturing products.
