Jakarta: Indonesia's consumer price index (CPI) recorded an inflation of 0.26 percent in January 2021, the Central Statistics Agency announced on Monday.
According to BPS chairman Suhariyanto, the inflation was influnced by rising prices of several commodities in 90 surveyed cities.
On a yearly basis, the country's CPI recorded an inflation of 1.55 percent last month.
"As many as 75 cities experienced inflation while 15 other cities experienced deflation," Suhariyanto told a virtual press conference.
The highest inflation occurred in Mamuju at 1.43 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Balikpapan and Ambon at 0.02 percent.
"In Mamuju, West Sulawesi, we understand that our brothers and sisters in West Sulawesi recently experienced an earthquake," he told reporters.
