Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution has announced that the central government is currently formulating the Grand Design of National Logistics System.
"The government is committed to improve our logistics sector by building infrastructures and cutting red tape," Darmin told reporters on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
"A strong logistics sector is needed to develop local industries that can work effectively," Darmin said
Indonesian economic growth reached 5.17 percent in 2018. The growth reached 5.18 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Economic growth in 2018 was still dominated by provinces in Java region which contributed 58.48 percent to GDP. It was followed by provinces in Sumatra region which contributed 21.58 percent to GDP.
"We were 46th in the 2018 Logistics Performance Index," Darmin said.
"We should work harder to be able to compete with other ASEAN countries," Darmin said.
