Jakarta: Lion Air served a total of 14,680 flights or an average of 480 flights per day in September 2019.

The company covers 42 domestic destinations and 25 international destinations including Singapore, Malaysia, China and Saudi Arabia.

"The on-time performance (OTP) of 74.07 percent was influenced by bad weather in the form of haze in a number of cities and regions in Kalimantan and Sumatra," Lion Air Strategic Corporate Communication Danang Mandala Prihantoro said in a written statement released on Monday, October 7, 2019.

"This condition caused short visibility and did not meet flight safety requirements for takeoff and landing," the Lion Air Official added.

According to him, Lion Air has been using a structured, consistent and comprehensive system between aircraft maintenance and operational team's quick perfromance to minimize the impact of flight delays if obstacles occur on the ground.

"Lion Air operates its aircraft systematically based on aircraft rotation, route distance, airport infrastructure, occupancy level and other factors," he remarked.

Lion Air will continue to optimize its aircraft, consisting of 64 Boeing 737-900ER, 38 Boeing 737-800NG, three Airbus 330-300 and two Airbus 330-900NEO.
