Jakarta: The latest Banking Survey conducted by Bank Indonesia (BI) revealed how the banking industry is predicting stronger growth of new loans disbursed in the second quarter of 2021.
According to the survey, the weighted net balance (WNB) increased significantly to 93.3% from 30.4% in the first quarter of 2021.
It was primarily driven by consumer loans, followed by working capital loans and investment loans.
"Respondents of the latest survey predicted another period of looser lending policy in the second quarter of 2021," said BI Communication Department Head Erwin Haryono in a press release on Wednesday.
It was indicated by a moderate decrease in the Lending Standards Index to 2.8% from 4.0% in the previous period, with the banks focusing on premium charges, collateral requirements, and administration fees aspect.
Finally, the latest survey showed that respondents remain optimistic regarding credit growth in 2021, predicting 6.0% (yoy) in line with monetary and economic conditions as well as manageable credit risk.
