Jakarta: Indonesia recorded a deflation of 0.16 percent in June owing to a drop in foodstuff prices in several regions, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has stated.
"According to surveys in 90 cities conducted by BPS, we recorded a deflation of 0.16 percent in June," said BPS Chairman Margo Yuwono during a virtual press conference here on Monday.
According to the BPS Chief, the country recorded a calendar-year inflation of 0.74 percent in the first six months of the year.
Meanwhile, the country's annual inflation stood at 1.33 percent last month.
"Out of 90 surveyed cities, 66 cities experienced deflation," he stated.
"The highest deflation was recorded in Kupang at 0.89 percent," he added.
