Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train's Route to be Extended until Manggarai

Jakarta: Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has revealeted that the route of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Rail Link will be extended until Manggarai train station this month.
 
"It is currently ended at BNI City train station. It will be extended until Manggarai train station," the former Angkasa Pura president director said in a written statement received by Medcom.id. 
 
"This decision may increase its occupancy rate up to 60 percent. The service will be more attractive for people from Depok and Bekasi," the minister added.

The rail link is built to cut travel time from Jakarta city center to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It is operated by state-owned company PT Railink.
 
Soekarno Hatta International Airport is the most busiest airport in Indonesia. It is the primary airport of the greater Jakarta area.
 
The Greater Jakarta region comprises Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. The area has a population of more than 28 million people.
 
It is the most populous urban area in Indonesia. It is also the center of government and economy of the country.
 
The central goverment has ordered regional leaders in Jakarta, West Java and Banten provinces to improve transportation infrastructures in their respective regions. It has allocated funds to help resolve transportation issues in Jakarta and its satellite cities.
 
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo recently said that the government's infrastructure policy is designed to boost the country's competitiveness. He also reiterated that his infrastructure push is needed to reduce socio-economic inequality.
 
According to a report from BPS, Indonesian gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.17 percent in 2018. It was Indonesia's highest annual growth in five years.
 
Indonesian GDP grew by 5.18 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 GD. The GDP growth was slightly stronger than earlier expectations.
 
In the meantime, Indonesia's poverty rate stood at 9.66 percent in September 2018. The poverty rate decreased by 0.46 percentage point compared to September 2017.
 
The number of poor in Indonesia stood at 25.67 million people in September 2018. It decreased by 0.91 million people compared to September 2017.
