Jakarta: PT MRT Jakarta and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) signed an agreement on integrated public transportation management. This cooperation agreement led to the formation of a joint venture.
PT MRT Jakarta President Director William Sabandar said the joint venture will act as a holding company in the field of rail transportation that manages integrated rail transportation and transit-oriented areas in the Greater Jakarta area.
"Including investment and business activities according to business licenses and laws in force in Indonesia," he said at the BUMN Ministry Building, Jakarta on Friday, January 10, 2020.
William explained that the MRT will act as a project management unit that facilitates and monitors the progress of the implementation of the restructuring of train stations owned by PT KAI.
"This agreement is a concrete step after the signing of the Head of Agreement (HoA) which was carried out earlier on Monday, December 9, 2019," he added.
Meanwhile, KAI will still play a role in improving infrastructure within the stations, managing circulation of passengers and vehicles, as well as issuing access permits.
"This cooperation agreement is planned to be valid for one year," he concluded.
The signing of this collaboration was witnessed by SOE Minister Erick Thohir, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and Managing Director of PT KAI Edi Sukmoro.
