Trade Activities with China Continue to Run: Official

Jakarta: Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Moeldoko ensured that export and import of goods with China continues to run. There was no decrease in the volume of traded industrial goods and other commodities.
 
"At the port ,there is no decline in imports and exports. Everything is still going well," Moeldoko said after a coordination meeting related to the impact of the coronavirus at the Presidential Staff Office, Central Jakarta on Thursday, February 6, 2020.
 
Moeldoko believes the delivery of goods and food from China remains safe. Novel coronavirus is only transmitted through fluids in the body of animals and humans.
"Only live animals are not allowed to enter here. Goods, machinery, food, etc may enter," he said.
 
The newly elected managing director of the World Bank Mari Elka Pangestu said the coronavirus added to global uncertainties and affected the Indonesian economy. If the Chinese economy experiences a one percent slowdown, Indonesia's economic growth will also be hampered by 0.3 percent.
 
According to her, the spread of the coronavirus has the most impact on the tourism sector. One way to reduce the economic impact is through fiscal stimulus.
