Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Freeport McMoran CEO Richard Adkerson at the Bogor Palace on Monday, October 7, 2019.

In his meeting, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan and Director General of Minerals and Coal (Minerba) of the ESDM Ministry Bambang Gatot Ariyono.

According to Bambang, Adkerson's delivered a progress report on Freeport's business in the country. Last year, the Indonesian government officially became the majority owner of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) after increasing its share ownership to 51.23 percent.

"All was reported. It was a regular meeting like other reports to the president," said Bambang at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

Last month, PTFI obtained an additional quota permit for copper concentrate exports. According to reports, the additional copper concentrate export quota approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was around 500 thousand tons. In total, PTFI's export quota rose to around 700 thousand tons. In March, PTFI pocketed an export quota of 198,282 tons.

This is possible because there is an optimization of production at the Grasberg open pit.
