Jakarta: Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi is optimistic that the Greater Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) project can be operational by 2021. He revealed that the land acquisition process will be completed by November 2019.
“This November, the land acquisition process will be concluded. We faced a lot of delays due to land acquisition issues. As a result, the construction of the project is quite complicated," he said here on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
In the meantime, Land and Special Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil admitted that the land acquisition process is more difficult in Bekasi. However, he ensured that the proces is almost completed.
“We just need to acquire a few pieces of land so the process will not face a lot of obstacles," said Sofyan.
Besides the land acquistion process, Deputy Minister of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that the construction of the project has been going really well. He hopes that the project can be completed on time.
“We hope that the project will start to be operational in December of 2021. The construction is still facing obstacles especially in the construction of elevated track from Kuningan to Gatot Subroto. After it is finished, we will focus on the construction of the track from Cawang to Dukuh Atas," said Kartika. (Translator:Muhammad Gestinev)
