Indonesia's Trade Surplus Soars to $54.46 Billion in 2022

Jakarta: Indonesia’s balance of trade recorded a surplus of US$54.46 billion in 2022, after recording a surplus of US$35.33 billion in the previous year, according to the country's Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
 
Indonesia's export value reached US$291.98 billion last year, while the country's import value stood at US$237.52 billion in the same period in the previous year.
 
Throughout 2022, Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports reached US$275.96 billion, increasing by 25.80 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

"According to the province of origin, Indonesia’s largest exports in January– December 2022 came from West Java with a value of US$38.59 billion (13.22 percent), followed by East Kalimantan at US$36.46 billion (12.49 percent), and East Java at US$24.75 billion (8.48 percent)," BPS said in a media release on Monday, January 16, 2023.
 
Meanwhile, the largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January– December 2022 were China US$67.16 billion (34.07 percent), Japan US$17.08 billion (8.66 percent), and Thailand US$10.85 billion (5.50 percent). 
 
Furthermore, Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$32.85 billion (16.67 percent) and US$11.63 billion (5.90 percent), respectively.
