Jakarta: The German Embassy in Indonesia and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) held the Innovation and Investment for Inclusive Sustainable Economic Development (ISED) Dialogue Forum at Multivision Tower, Kuningan, South Jakarta on Thursday, September 19, 2019.
The forum focused on the quality as well as competency of human resources in Indonesia. It also outlined the need of skilled human resources in manufacturing and tourism industries.
In order to anticipate rapid technological change, industries should be willing to embrace new technologies. As a result, they need to provide proper training for their workers.
One of the highlighted issues is workforce enablement. The development of training services is key in a market with a shortage of competent human resources.
"We from Bappenas, along with ISED, are committed on becoming one of the focal points and contributing to President Joko Widodo's vision as well as supporting the implementation of the 4.0 industry era," said Istasius Angger Anindito, the deputy director for tourism at Bappenas.
The project is a form of bilateral collaboration between Germany and Indonesia. German companies will support their Indonesian counterparts and provide advice.
"They bring together Indonesian companies however German companies like Siemens are also brought in," said Stefan Erber, Principal Adviser of ISED Project.
