Jakarta: The latest Banking Survey conducted by Bank Indonesia (BI) indicated positive new loan disbursements in the third quarter of 2021, despite moderating on the previous period, as confirmed by a weighted net balance (WNB) of demand for new loans of 20.9%.
"Broad growth of new loans was indicated by a positive WNB across all loan types," said BI Communication Department Head Erwin Haryono in a press release on Thursday.
"Furthermore, respondents predicted stronger growth of new loans disbursed in the fourth quarter of 2021, with the WNB of 90.9%," he added.
Respondents of the latest survey predicted a period of looser lending standards in the fourth quarter of 2021, as reflected by a further decrease in the Lending Standards Index to -0.4% from 2.0% in the previous period.
Policy aspects of new loan disbursement predicted to be looser lending standards compared to the previous quarter among others are loan maturities and administration fees.
The survey also revealed how respondents have remained optimistic concerning credit growth in 2021, predicting 5.3% (yoy) expansion in line with conditions of Indonesian economy as well as relatively manageable credit risk.
