Jakarta: The state-owned aviation company, Garuda Indonesia, is considering to demand compensation from Boeing after cracks were discovered on one of its Boeing-manufactured passenger planes.
According to Garuda Indonesia President President Director Ashkara Danadiputra, the finding led to the plane being temporarily grounded.
“We are now considering (compeansation from Boeing),” Danadiputra said here on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia VP Corporate Communication, Ikhsan Rosan, noted that the grounded plane is a Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG) aircraft. The type is ony used for domestic flights.
“Next Generation is an old series,” said Ikhsan.
Ikhsan explained that the grounding has been in effect since October 5, 2019 after the discovery of the cracks.
According to Ikhsan, as soon as the cracks were discovered, Garuda immediately informed the Transportation Ministry and Boeing.
