Jakarta: The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded a total investment realization during 2019 (January-December) of Rp809.6 trillion. The figure was 2.2 percent higher from the 2019 investment realization target of Rp792 trillion.
"Tthe investment realization has exceeded the target," said BKPM Chief Bahlil Lahadalia in a presentation at the Nusantara Room, BKPM Office, South Jakarta on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
He explained that the total investment realization in the fourth quarter (October-December) 2019 was recorded at Rp208.3 trillion, an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
During the fourth quarter of 2019, the realization of domestic investment (PMDN) reached IDR 103 trillion or an increase of 18.5 percent and the realization of foreign investment (PMA) reached IDR 105.3 trillion or an increase of 6.4 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
The investment realization outside Java reached IDR 103.8 trillion, an increase of 22.6 percent, whle the investmet realization in Java reached IDR 104.4 trillion or an increase of 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018.
"The significant increase in investment realization outside Java is good news. Investment outside Java must be encouraged so that economic equality occurs. Not only new investment, but we also guard our existing investment. Whatever the problem, let's solve it, "Bahlil explained.
In the fourth Quarter of 2019, West Java Province was still the location with the largest investment realization value, which was IDR 35.4 trillion (17 percent), followed by DKI Jakarta IDR 28.3 trillion (13.6 percent); Banten IDR 15 trillion (7.2 percent); Central Sulawesi IDR 13 trillion (6.2 percent); and Central Java IDR 12.3 trillion (5.9 percent).
BKPM recorded China as the main country of origin of the foreign investment in the IV Quarter of 2019, with an investment of USD 1.4 billion (20.4 percent); followed by Hong Kong, China amounted to USD 1.1 billion (16.3 percent); Singapore USD 1.1 billion (16.1 percent); Japan USD 1.1 billion (15.3 percent); and the Netherlands USD 0.5 billion (7.1 percent).
