medcom.id, Jakarta: The Asian Development Bank President, Takehiko Nakao, after meeting with President Joko Widodo and Coordinating Minister of Economy Darmin Nasution on Friday (2/12/2016) mentioned his organization is committed to provide more loans for Indonesia.

"We have the commitment to provide USD10 billion for the next five years," said Nakao, at the ministry's office, Jalan Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, Friday (2/12/2016).

Nakao said that from 2010 to 2014, ADB gave in average USD740 million loans annually.

Nakao explained loans from ADB will be used to support programs from the government especially development of physical and social infrastructures.

Last year, ADB provided USD1,67 billion loans to Indonesia, including USD400 million loan to develop financial market and financial inclusion; USD400 million loan to develop the energy sector; and USD600 million loan to improve transmission network and electricity distribution in Sumatra.

ADB this year will fund programs on educational services, public financial management, clean energy, rural infrastructures, as well as flooding control.

Nakao praised the government as it was able to manage economy amid global economic slowdown last year. ADB estimates Indonesian economy will grow  5.3 percent in 2016, from the 4.8 percent in 2015.

"In the midst of the global financial volatility and the slumping commodity prices, Indonesia's economic reforms in various sectors have increased the market trust," Nakao stated.

He assessed that it is important for Indonesia to continue and to strengthen the reform momentum especially efforts on boosting domestic tax revenue by expanding the tax base and strengthening its management system.

As one of the founders of ADB in 1966, Indonesia has received USD32 billion in the form of loans with-or-without the guarantee of the state, USD437 million in the form of technical aid, as well as USD430 million in the form of grants. ADB's support is focused on the management of mineral resources, education, energy, finance, transportation and water supply, as well as other urban services.
