BRIsat, the World's First Bank-Owned Satellite

medcom.id, Jakarta: Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) will have its own satellite. Named BRIsat, it will be launched to the space from Kourou, French Guyana on June 9.
 
BRIsat is the first satelitte in the world owned by a bank. BRI President Director Asmawi Syam mentioned that the satellite will be operated by experts employed by the bank. 
 
"It is a pride not only for BRI, but also for Indonesia," said Asmawi in a BRIsat Press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/31/2016).
 
"All have been prepared, the ground station is in Ragunan. 53 Indonesians will manage 45 transponders," he added.
 
BRIsat is intended to improve BRI's banking services. The satellite will use two frequencies, the C band and KU band. The C Band will be for financial transactions, while the KU band will be for non-financial communication.
 
"BRIsat will make banking services more secure, faster, more efficient and more comfortable," he concluded.
