medcom.id, Jakarta: Indef Economist, Didik J Rachbini urged that in the second phase of policy package by the end of the month, there is a policy which has a swift effect of boosting domestic economy, one of them is related to the fuel price reduction.
"A short term policy is needed, lowering fuel price and finally the electricity price will go down as well as the fuel is cheaper," said Didik in a discussion in Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Saturday (9/26/2015).
According to Didik, the fuel price of Premium at Rp7,400 is considered to be too expensive as the local economy experiencing a slowdown. Not only that, the expensive price of premium is still applied as the world oil price went as low as US$40 per barrel.
"Ideally, it is lowered at around Rp1,500 to Rp2,000. It will be felt swiftly, within two weeks," mentioned Didik.
The cheap fuel price, Didik said, is not necessarily to be applied by the government forever. It is a temporary state, as it may increase after the economy grows.
"There should be an agreement, for example the price is lowered for this year, but next year may be added again. So the low point is only during crisis," he concluded.
