medcom.id, Jakarta: The Central Logistics Agency (Bulog) plans to import 70 thousand tonnes of bovine meat until the end of the year.

"We have received supports from Trade Minister, State-Owned Enterprises Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs," said Bulog chief Djarot Kusumayati here on Friday (9/2/2016).

Previously, Bulog has imported 10 thousand tonnes of bovine meat during Ramadan and Lebaran holiday.

"We need around 10-20 thousand tonnes per month. Therefore, for the remaining three months, we need around 60-70 thousand tonnes," he continued.

Bulog will import the bovine meat from India. Djarot hopes the measure can lower beef prices in the market.
