medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said confirmed that the government plans to erase diesel fuel subsidy.
Sudirman stated the plan is proposed as gobal oil prices continue to decline. He claimed several lawmakers has welcomed the proposal.
"Through several dialogues, several lawmakers has welcomed the proposal," said Sudirman at his office, Jakarta, Monday (4/11/2016).
He explained that the plan would be implemented gradually. Currently, diesel fuel subsidy is budgeted at Rp16 trillion. "We want to solve the subsidy issue gradually," he added.
The issue is going to be decided during discussion of revised state budget between the government and the House of Representatives.
"The process should be through the revised state budget. We cannot unilaterally decide to erase the subsidy. We just propose the plan. It depends on the House," he concluded.
