BRI Eyes Improved Services as Brisat Successfully Launched

medcom.id, Jakarta: Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) successfully launched BRIsat, dubbed as the first satellite owned and operated by a bank in the world. 
 
BRI deputy director Sunarso mentioned that the satellite has 36 C-band transponders and nine Ku-band transponders. According to him, C-band is reliable in bad weather.
 
"C-band is very suitable for financial transactions," Sunarso told Metrotvnews.com in Jakarta, Sunday (6/19/2016).

Meanwhile, the Ku-band is for audio visual data. Sunarso revealed BRI eyes audio visual-based banking services in the future.
 
"If we combine (C-band and Ku-band), it will have tremendous potential, we can provide various banking services including audio visual-based banking services," he elaborated.

BRIsat was successfully launched from Kourou, French Guiana on Saturday (6/18) 6.40 PM local time or Sunday (6/19) 4.40 AM Jakarta time. It was launched using Ariane 5 rocket.
 
The Rp3.375 trillion satellite will be positioned at 150.5 degrees East longitude. Its operational life is around 17.5 years.
