medcom.id, Jakarta: Central Agency of Statistics (BPS) reported Indonesia's economic growth in the first quarter of 20016 was at 4.92 percent. It is lower than estimations from many analysts who predicted the economic growth could reach 5.1-5.2 percent.
"Economic growth in the first quarter of 2016 was at 4.92 percent," said BPS Chief Suryamin at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/4/2016).
Suryamin explained external factors heavily influenced Indonesia's economic growth. China's economy declined from 6.8 percent to 6.7 percent. Economic condition in the United States (US) and Singapore also stagnated.
In the other side, domestic economic condition showed improvement. Inflation was maintained at 0.62 percent in the first quarter. Moreover, government expenditures increased 6.16 percent compared to the same period last year.
Suryamin believes the economy will be better than last year. He underlined that economic growth will be higher in third and fourth quarter.
"This is normal. usually the economic growth will speed up in third and fourth quarter," he concluded.
