medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Trade gave right to PT Freeport Indonesia to export 1 million ton of copper concentrate for the next six months.
The ministry's director general of foreign trade Karyanto Suprih said the quota was given based on recommendation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
"The number is based on recommendation from Energy Ministry," said Karyanto by phone on Wednesday (2/10/2016).
The quota is higher compared to the previous period which was only 775,000 tons. From July 2015 to January 2016, Freeport was only able to export 500,000 tons.
Energy Ministry official previously mentioned the recommendation was based on proposal from the United States (US) mining company.
