medcom.id, Jakarta: The divestment price offered by PT Freeport Indonesia is considered too high by government. Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's director general of mineral and coal Bambang Gatot Ariyono said government expects the price to be lowered.
"In trade, asking high price is common. If i sell something, i would as the highest price. If the buyer does not good at bargaining. I could get it," he said in Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday 91/20/2016).
Government currently evaluates Freeport's offer. The evaluation is carried out by inter-ministerial team.
"Clearly it could go lower. We will assess whether the value is too high. There is an independent team," he stated.
The government has 60 days to make decision. Ministry of Finance is tasked for the decision making "The Ministry of Finance will act as government's representative. We hope that the deal will be concluded on March," Bambang concluded.
