medcom.id, Jakarta: State-owned mining company, Aneka Tambang (Antam), prepares strategy to boost its revenue. One of the plans is by establishing gold and nickel explorations in Myanmar and the Philippines this year.
Antam CEO Tedy Badrujaman mentioned commodity prices are falling due to slow global economy. Antam wants to boost its revenue by exporting gold and nickel from Myanmar and the Philippines to China.
"We plans to operate abroad, gold and nickel mining. The production will be exported to China," said Tedy at annual shareholders meeting, Jakarta, Thursday (3/31/2016).
Tedy denied his company decided to operate in other countries to avoid raw mineral ban from the government. He admitted Antam could get quick incomes by exporting raw minerals.
"We already have smelter but the quickest income comes from selling raw minerals," he stated.
Myanmar and the Philippines are chosen because the countries do not ban raw mineral exports. "So they could be our production base for raw mineral exports to China," Teddy added.
